In San Giovanni Rotondo, visit the world famous Padre Pio Shrine, one of the most significant pilgrimage sites in the Catholic world. Explore the modern sanctuary, where Padre Pio’s body is displayed during the summer, and continue to the Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie, where the saint lived and served for many years. Admire his relics and experience the peaceful atmosphere of this sacred place. After a break for lunch at a local restaurant, the tour continues to Monte Sant’Angelo, home to the Sanctuary of Saint Michael the Archangel a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This ancient basilica, partially built into the mountain, includes the sacred grotto where Saint Michael is said to have appeared. A long staircase leads down to the grotto, where the inscription reads: “Where the rock opens, the sins of men will be forgiven.”

After this moving and enriching experience, return to Rome in the evening with a renewed sense of peace and inspiration.
